Banjarharjo, Karanganyar (July 30) – The digitalization of public services represents a transformation from manually conducted services to a technology-based system using information and communication technology (ICT). Meanwhile, the integration of public services refers to the unification of various public services managed by different government agencies into a single, integrated system. In today’s digital era, digitalization and integration in public services have become a crucial agenda, including for village governments. The benefits of digitalizing and integrating public services include: (1) Operational Efficiency; (2) Transparency; (3) Accessibility; (4) Data-Driven Decision Making; (5) Data Security.
Recognizing the urgency and benefits of digitalization, Maulia Salma Al Fateena (21), a Public Administration student part of the 2024 Undip Community Service Program Team II, implemented a program to assist the Banjarharjo Village Government in digitalizing their services. The target of this program includes the Banjarharjo Village officials and the community members utilizing these services. The program includes creating an official WhatsApp account, developing online public service forms, and a platform that integrates links related to public service needs in Banjarharjo Village.
In the planning phase, Maulia consulted with village officials to identify which public services required digitalization and the challenges faced under the manual system. She then selected and developed a suitable platform tailored to the village government’s capabilities.
Consultation on Planning and Implementation of the Digitalization and Integration of Public Services Program with Banjarharjo Village Officials
One of the village officials, Mr. Fafa, the village secretary, expressed openness toward the digital transformation of public services. “Absolutely, in Banjarharjo, we don’t yet have digital-based services. Usually, residents who need services go through the Hamlet Head, but with this, they can simply fill out a Google Form without having to go through the Hamlet Head.”
This program has successfully achieved its main goal, which is to initiate digital transformation in public services. Not only does it provide benefits for the village government in terms of data integration, but it also helps the community access public services more efficiently. This success is expected to serve as an example for other KKN programs in supporting the digital transformation and integration of public services in villages across Indonesia.
