According to the Development and Application Research (RPP) activity entitled “The Management Practices for the Mitigation of the Spread of the Covid-19 at the Local Stage: A Comparative Studies on the Java Island as the Epicentrum Point” conducted by Amni Zarkasyi Rahman, SAP, M.Si, Retna Hanani, S.Sos., MPP and Yuliana Kristanto, SAP, M.Si, in collaboration with the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, there had been hold a national webinar on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 through the Zoom platform.
The national webinar entitled “Penerapan Prinsip Good Governance dalam Penanganan Covid-19” also invited the following speakers: Ir. Sabdo Kurnianto, M.Si – Head of the BPBD DKI Jakarta, dr. Joni Wahyuhadi – Chairperson of the Curative Task Force for the Acceleration of the Covid-19 Handling for the East Java Province, Herru Setiadhie, SH., M.Si – the Acting Secretary of the Central Java Province, Drs. Biwara Yuswantana, M.Si – the Acting BPBD Yogyakarta Province, and Dr. Ir. Setiawan Wangsaatmaja, Dipl. SE., M.Eng – the Regional Secretary of the West Java Province.
The main reason for holding this national webinar was the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic which had an impact on various sectors in a country. In its development, the Covid-19, both directly and indirectly, gave shocks in the process of handling the resulting impacts, as well as being a challenge in the governance management. One of the new challenges that had emerged was related to the institutional structure of handling the impact of the Covid-19.
At the beginning of its development, the Indonesian Government formed a task force to accelerate the handling of the covid-19 through the Presidential Decree No.7 of 2020 concerning the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling the Covid-19, and gave the local governments the authority to handle the pandemic situation in their regions. Based on the discussion in the webinar, several results were obtained that each region was trying and continuing to do its best in dealing with the impact of the pandemic through various policies issued. Besides, the principles of the good governance adapted in handling this pandemic on average from the 5 provinces, namely the transparency, participation, accountability, and coordination or collaboration. Meanwhile, the challenges faced and the principles that were challenging were the principles of accountability and participation from the community, which were very important in the success on handling the Covid-19.
