Public Lecture on Human Rights Urgency in Public Policy Analysis Held by FISIP UNDIP

On March 1, 2024, the Department of Public Administration at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Diponegoro University (UNDIP), organized a public lecture on “The Urgency of Human Rights in Public Policy Analysis.” The event was attended by several speakers and participants, including lecturers and students from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.

The main speaker for this public lecture was Dr. Atnike Nova Sigiro, MSi, the Chairperson of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) of the Republic of Indonesia. Dr. Atnike Nova Sigiro provided in-depth insights into the importance of integrating human rights into the public policy analysis process. During the session, she also addressed various current issues related to human rights in Indonesia.

Accompanying Dr. Atnike Nova Sigiro was Dr. Retno Sunu Astuti, MSi, the Head of the Doctoral Program in Public Administration at FISIP UNDIP. Dr. Retno Sunu Astuti offered additional perspectives and academic context regarding the urgency of human rights in the context of public policy analysis. She highlighted the relevance of recent research and studies that can positively contribute to the development of human rights-based public policies.

The event was facilitated and moderated by Retna Hanani, MPP, a Lecturer in the Department of Public Administration at FISIP UNDIP. Retna Hanani was responsible for facilitating discussions between speakers and participants, as well as bridging questions from the audience.

Participants in this public lecture included lecturers and students from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs actively engaged in public administration studies. The diversity of participants’ academic backgrounds provided an interesting platform for exchanging ideas and deepening understanding of the urgency of human rights in the context of public policy.

Through the organization of this public lecture, the Department of Public Administration at FISIP UNDIP aims to contribute to enhancing awareness and understanding of the importance of integrating human rights at every stage of public policy analysis.
