Aceh, December 16, 2024 – Jabal Ghofur University, Aceh, held a public lecture featuring a prominent speaker, Dr. AP. Dra. Tri Yuniningsih, M.Si. The event, which took place on Monday, discussed the topic “Digital Transformation in Tourism Development.”
In her presentation, Dr. Tri Yuniningsih explained that digital transformation in the tourism sector, or Digital Tourism Transformation, is an innovation that has brought significant changes to the tourism industry. One example is Virtual Traveling, a concept that shifts traditional travel experiences to digital platforms.
The benefits of tourism digitalization include various aspects, such as:
- Efficiency: Simplifying the planning process for travelers.
- Safety: Providing a sense of security, especially in the post-pandemic era.
- Sustainability: Supporting environmentally friendly tourism practices.
- Education: Broadening knowledge about culture and tourist destinations through digital media.
- Planning: Helping travelers prepare their trips more effectively.
- Accessibility: Offering easier access to tourists from various backgrounds.
Dr. Tri emphasized that even though the COVID-19 pandemic has ended, digitalization in the tourism sector continues to grow rapidly, particularly for promotion and service improvement purposes. “Tourism digitalization offers great opportunities to enhance the competitiveness of the tourism sector, especially in facilitating access and attracting tourists through modern technology,” she stated.
At the end of her session, Dr. Tri highlighted the importance of creativity and innovation from all tourism stakeholders. “All actors in the tourism industry, including the government, business players, and the community, must maximize the use of technology to develop tourism potential in this digital era,” she concluded.
The public lecture received a positive response from attendees, especially students who are keen to contribute to technology-based tourism development in Indonesia.
