Genikan Village, Magelang (August 6, 2024) – In an effort to achieve good and responsive village governance that meets the community’s needs, Khansa, a student of Community Service Program (KKN) Team II from Diponegoro University, initiated the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in Genikan Village. This program is a concrete step towards improving the quality of public services, which have often been perceived as complicated, bureaucratic, and difficult to access by the public.

The concept of good governance, which prioritizes efficient and standardized public services, is the main reference for the preparation of this SOP. Previously, Genikan Village did not have systematic guidelines for public service delivery. This resulted in uncertainty in the service process, both for the village officials and the community.

One of the interesting innovations in the implementation of the SOP in Genikan Village is the use of barcodes. Each type of service, ranging from family card (KK) issuance, birth certificates, to domicile certificates, is equipped with a barcode. By scanning the barcode displayed on posters or information boards at the village office, the community can directly access complete information about the requirements they need to fulfil. This information can be displayed on mobile devices, making it easily accessible to the public. This feature not only simplifies residents’ understanding of the requirements but also minimizes errors in document submission.

The use of barcodes also offers several other benefits. First, the service process becomes more transparent. Residents can easily understand the steps required to process a permit. Second, the efficiency of village officials increases as they no longer need to repeatedly explain the requirements to each resident. Third, the data obtained from barcode scans can be used to analyze the most frequently used services, providing a basis for improving service quality in the future.

During the SOP development program in Genikan Village, the event was attended by the Village Secretary and all the involved village officials. Their presence was crucial in ensuring that the SOP development process ran smoothly and aligned with the actual needs and conditions in the field.

With clear and systematic SOPs, it is hoped that public services in Genikan Village will run more effectively and efficiently. The community will feel more satisfied and confident in the performance of the village government. Additionally, the use of barcodes as an innovation in public services can serve as an example for other villages to improve the quality of their services.
