Semarang, Monday, June 16, 2025 – Branjang Village, West Ungaran, Semarang – As part of the Community Service Program (KKN) of Diponegoro University, a student named Muthia Fakhira Tedja (member and coordinator of the Social Media Optimization Work Program) carried out a series of community empowerment activities in collaboration with a local business, Sigur.Id. These activities took place from May 5 to June 16, 2025, in Branjang Village, West Ungaran District, Semarang Regency, under the supervision of field lecturers Muhammad Hamdan Mukafi, S.S., M.A., Gani Nur Pramudyo, M.Hum, and Siti Komariya, S.S., M.A.
One of the main activities conducted was a workshop on creating resin keychains using scrap wood. This workshop was held in direct collaboration with Sigur.Id, a creative micro-enterprise that produces accessories such as keychains, wall clocks, necklaces, and even dining tables made from wood waste and resin. The activity also introduced the economic value of materials that are often regarded as waste.

In addition to the workshop, an intensive discussion was held with Janu Adhe Saputra, the owner of Sigur.Id, addressing various challenges faced in developing Sigur as an MSME. The outcome of this discussion will be an important part of the preliminary study for a journal publication currently being prepared by KKN Team 106. It will also serve as an indicator of success in improving the social media engagement of Sigur.Id. Topics discussed included issues in digital marketing, MSME legality, and challenges in adapting to the rapidly evolving digital era.
To support business sustainability, Muthia also provided education on business legality to the owner of Sigur.Id. The session covered the importance of legal standing in building consumer trust, accessing funding, and establishing potential collaborations with government or private institutions. This education is expected to be an initial step for Sigur.Id to become a more professional and sustainable MSME.
Beyond training and education, Muthia actively participated in optimizing Sigur.Id’s Instagram and TikTok accounts, as well as the official account of the KKN activities. By designing engaging promotional content, she helped expand the reach of product promotions and increase the exposure of the Sigur.Id brand. This strategy included the creation of aesthetic videos on the product-making process, documentation of the workshop activities, and storytelling about each product.
Through consistent posts and the development of relevant narratives, Sigur.Id is expected to broaden its market, particularly among youth active on social media. All of these efforts reflect the commitment of KKN Team 106 to support the development of environmentally friendly, locally based MSMEs that are adaptive to technological advancements, thereby creating sustainable social impact. It is hoped that Diponegoro University’s KKN program will continue to collaborate with other MSMEs to promote economic self-reliance in rural areas.
