Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro had held a Guest Lecturer class with the theme Policies Evaluation on Food Security and Tourism in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era in Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia. It presented several speakers, namely Dr. Sunee Hongwiset (Lecturer at Bhurapa University, Thailand), Prof. Dr. Tuomo Rautakivi (Lecturer at Royal University of Pnom Penh, Cambodia), and Dr. Slamet Rosyadi, M.Si (Lecturer at Jendral Sudirman University). , Indonesia).

In her presentation, Dr. Sunee Hongwiset said that there were four phases of tourism development in Thailand. First, by attracting the interest of generations Z, Y, X. Next, building a silver hair generation that had been vaccinated. Third, creating travel targets between regions during a pandemic. Fourth, collaborating with provinces and districts.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Tuomo explained the importance of the tourism sector as a source of annual investment. This sector was very influential on the country when inflation occurred, especially during a pandemic. Tuomo also said that the number of foreign tourists in Cambodia decreased by 62.8 percent. In this case, the tourism strategy implemented by the Cambodian government was to include elements of cultural heritage, ecotourism, Cambodianess, and the Cambodia’s bay.

In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic had also affected the tourism sector in Indonesia. This is as stated by Dr. Slamet Rosyadi, M.Sc., that the implementation of social restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic had had a significant impact on Indonesian tourism. However, he also emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic also had a positive impact because it could trigger people’s creativity.
