Semarang, May 11, 2025 \u2014 The Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University (UNDIP), held the 2025 International Community Service Program<\/strong> under the theme \u201cThe Role of Generation Z in Community-Based Management of Mangrove Tapak in Central Java Coastal Areas.\u201d<\/em> The activity was conducted in the Mangrove Tapak conservation area, located in Tugurejo Street, Tugu District, Semarang City, along with two supporting sites, including the Mawar Waste Bank in Tugu.<\/p>\n

The program was led by Prof. Dr. Dra. Hartuti Purnaweni, MPA<\/strong>, as Head of the Public Governance Research Group, and involved lecturers from the Department of Public Administration, including Retna Hanani, S.Sos., MPP; Amni Zarkasyi Rahman, S.A.P., M.Si; Dra. Maesaroh, M.Si; Junjung Sahala Tua Manik, S.Sos., M.A.P.; Nilam Adini Rakhma, M.A.P.;<\/strong> and Azaria Eda Pradana, S.AP., M.AP.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition, students from UNDIP\u2019s International Undergraduate Program (IUP) in Public Administration and several international students from Timor-Leste also took part. Their participation reflects meaningful cross-disciplinary and international collaboration in strengthening local community capacity for sustainable environmental management.<\/p>\n

The program aimed to raise awareness among the public and younger generation regarding the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems, particularly in the Mangrove Tapak area, using a community-based management<\/strong> approach. The activities included educational sessions, mangrove planting actions, and capacity building in waste management and environmental empowerment in collaboration with the Mawar Waste Bank management team.<\/p>\n

This initiative demonstrates UNDIP\u2019s strong commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water),<\/strong> and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/strong> The involvement of the younger generation, especially IUP students, underlines the importance of building cross-generational and cross-cultural awareness in sustaining coastal environmental preservation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
