Jagan Village, July 31, 2024 – Community Service Program (KKN) team II 2023/2024 students from Universitas Diponegoro implemented a work program by presenting a Policy Brief to improve the BUMDes Makaryo Jagan. The Policy Brief was handed over by Nidaul Husna, a student of KKN TIM II 2023/2024 at Diponegoro University, to Mr. Mariyo, the Head of Jagan Village, at the Jagan Village Office on Wednesday, July 31.
A Policy Brief is a document that analyzes a specific topic, presenting problems and offering recommendations or policy options to guide government policy-making on that topic.
The creation of this Policy Brief serves as an application of knowledge gained by Nidaul, a student of Public Administration at Universitas Diponegoro, to assist Jagan Village Government in managing its BUMDes.
Jagan Village has had BUMDes Makaryo Jagan since 2022, established under Law No. 6 of 2014 on Villages. The establishment of this BUMDes also adheres to the Ministerial Regulation No. 4 of 2015 from the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, aimed at improving the welfare of village communities.
Unfortunately, the BUMDes has faced challenges due to a vacancy in the director’s position, which has impacted the operational efficiency of BUMDes. Additionally, poor human resource management is cited as a factor leading to the decline in BUMDes performance, as noted by Mr. Arif, the Secretary of BUMDes Makaryo Jagan, during an interview on BUMDes issues on July 23, 2024.
Several recommendations were proposed, including forming a new BUMDes managerial structure, increasing water service fees based on consumption groups, and enhancing capacity-building efforts for stakeholders involved in BUMDes management, such as BUMDes field officers, BUMDes managers, village government, and the Village Consultative Body (BPD).
With this Policy Brief, Mr. Mariyo, the Village Head, plans to use the proposed policy recommendations as considerations for the next village deliberation meeting concerning the sustainability of BUMDes Makaryo Jagan.
